Midnight Society

Improv – Austin, TX

FavoriteLoadingAdd to favorites

Midnight Society is an improv troupe that performs a grounded source scene that flies off that very ground to explore characters and ideas that inspire. They return to the ground often, but will usually end in some sort of jumping freeze frame.

Made up of stand up and sketch comedians, filmmakers, and writers, Midnight Society was named Austin’s best improv troupe by the Austin American Satesman’s A-List and was twice nominated for a B. Iden Payne Award. They’ve performed all around the country, including one show where star of stage and screen Matthew Lillard was in the audience. Midnight Society performs every Saturday night at 10PM at ColdTowne Theater along with improv veterans The Frank Mills.

The Raving Jaynes

Improv – New York, New York

FavoriteLoadingAdd to favorites

The Raving Jaynes combine dance and improv to create highly physical, spontaneous pieces of dance/theater. Weaving together techniques from clown, post-modern dance and improv, the performers, Jamie Graham and Amy Larimer, use a suggestion from the audience to generate a collage of improvised stories and dances. It’s improv with more sweat!

The Raving Jaynes perform regularly in New York City, teach workshops and are advocates for the art of improvisation as a performance practice. They have presented at IMPRO Amsterdam in the Netherlands; the Abundance Festival in Karlstad, Sweden; the Twin Cities Festival of Improvisation in Minneapolis; the ADaPT Festival in Santa Barbara, California; The Crisis Art Festival in Arezzo, Italy; The Comedy in Dance Festival at Triskelion Arts; Dancemopolitan at Joe’s Pub, The NYC Improv Festival at the PIT; The Unscripted New York Improvised Theatre Festival, Your Move in Jersey City and The Tank.
