Los Improviachis - 1599

Chicago, IL

"Los Improviachis" is a musical improv comedy show. Meet the diverse and eclectic cast of Improviachis as they sing, dance, and improvise their way into your "carazon". Drawing from traditional Mexican mariachi traditions while infusing modern American musical conventions, Los Improviachis bring "las jajas" to every venue they encounter. Los Impoviachis will also feature traditional Mariachi instrumentation along with some non-traditional instruments.

Presented by Salsation Theatre Company, this show features members who have performed/trained at various Chicago institutions such as The Second City, iO Chicago, The Annoyance Theatre, and ComedySportz. Their ethnic backgrounds include Mexican, Puerto Rican, Italian, Irish, and Spanish - just as mariachis are global, they are too!

Opposites - 1560

Austin,TX

Patrick and Mark are dear friends, but their contrary personalities make it difficult for them to tolerate each other for very long. The only way they can express their true feelings is by hiding behind improvised characters and situations that they create as the comedy duo Opposites. At the top of the show, Patrick and Mark give examples of their conflicting points of view, then explore these differences in a performance containing multiple story lines, swapped characters, and colliding narratives.

Patrick Knisely and Mark Carpenter are faculty members at The New Movement in Austin Texas and have been performing as Opposites for 2 years.

The US National Improv Team - 1547

New York, NY

The US National Improv Team creates shows that echo major themes and structural elements at all levels; like a fractal. Our form is always changing and evolving, with the goal of trying to let the audience have as much fun as we do. Our show begins with a single scene, built organically from a suggestion of a recently learned fact. From there, depending on where the show wants to go, we branch out into a number of potential (and potentially unique) forms. A Harold set in and around the same top secret restaurant; A mono-scene in a sleeper car riding along the Trans-Siberian Railway; An iterative, multi-lensed view of a simple front porch conversation, spread out over 2 million years. We call this "running the option" and it makes our shows as exciting to perform, as they are to watch.

National Improv Team is a group of seven UCB-trained improvisers who play with "aggressive faith." After practicing and performing together consistently for the past 2 years, they feel supported enough by one other to leap before they look and always love where they land. A UCB Indie Cagematch three-time champion, USNIT recently made their first ever UCB Cagematch appearance. They also perform in shows all around New York at the UCB, UCB east, PIT, USM, Creek and the Players Theater. They are thrilled to have performed at festivals all over this great nation, including CIF in Chicago, OOB in Austin, BCAF in Boston and NCCAF in North Carolina. They perform weekly at the Queen's Secret Improv Club.
