Zach Ward and Emily Holland of DSI Comedy

Zach Ward and Emily Holland of DSI Comedy

OoB 2016 welcomes Zach Ward and Emily Holland of DSI Comedy from Chapel Hill, NC! DSI Comedy Theater features an energizing and critically acclaimed mixture of improv, sketch, and standup comedy. Here’s why Zach and Emily are the perfect mix for OoB’s Craft Comedy Festival: Their improv is ON POINT. When they’re not touring the country, Zach’s duo is nationally praised and Emily does hip hop improv. How cool is that?! They’re not only accomplished performers – they also highly value their students and nurture their development. They’re building a community of risk takers. They run an organization called Yes And Life dedicated to helping people live more meaningful lives through uncertainty and improv – check it out here! Emily is a nutella addict. She understands us. Zach and Emily are killing it as performers, teachers, producers, and everything in between. We are SO excited to have them as headliners for OoB...
Meet our New Executive Producer!

Meet our New Executive Producer!

The Out of Bounds Comedy Festival is proud to announce that Ruby Willmann has been appointed as Interim Executive Producer by the festival’s board of directors. She will assume the reigns effective immediately from festival founder and previous Executive Producer, Jeremy Sweetlamb, who retired following the 2015 Out of Bounds. Willmann has worked for the festival for the past four years, most recently in the role of festival producer reporting directly to the Executive Producer. Her term as interim will run through the production of the 2016 Out of Bounds Festival, at which point Out of Bounds will announce an Artistic Director, pending a thorough job search and application process. The board has also announced the creation of the position of Business Director, to assume the financial duties of maintaining and executing the financial responsibilities of the 501c3 not-for-profit festival. Applications for the Business Director position are open effective immediately. Inquiries and resumes should be sent to board@outofboundscomedy.com “The move toward splitting the Executive Producer position into an Artistic Director and Business Director makes a lot of sense for a festival of our size and longevity,” said Shannon McCormick, board president and former Co-Executive Producer. “Having Ruby step into this interim role ensures both continuity and that institutional expertise will be maintained during this transitional year. She’s fantastically thorough and dependable, and will create the right environment for us to create a new working model for our staff.” Postings for the Artistic Director position will be forthcoming in 2016. The Out of Bounds Business Director will handle the finances of the 7-day non-profit comedy festival; manage grant applications and...
Everything is Established

Everything is Established

We’re excited to announce that Physical Plant’s production of Everything is Established is returning for OoB for one night. The comedic play that took Austin by storm earlier this year. Two servants – Montgomery (Jeffrey Mills) and Plaster (Michael Joplin) – are enjoying the run of the mansion after their ruthless master Mr. Albert has passed away – until their cheerful negligence is thrown into chaos by the arrival of Mr. Albert’s mail-order bride, Sally (Lee Eddy). Austin virtuoso Hannah Kenah wrote and directs this world-premiere, which follows on the heels of her recent hits Now Now Oh Now for the Rude Mechs and Guest By Courtesy for Salvage Vanguard. We’re especially proud of our cast of Austin greats. Lee Eddy is an Austin legend and this is her first play since returning to Austin after many years in Brooklyn. Michael Joplin, a master actor and improviser, was voted Best Actor in the Austin Chronicle’s Best of Austin for 2014. Jeffrey Mills has been devastating Austin audiences for years in comedic and dramatic roles, from Three, or the Sound of the Great Existential Nothingness (Breaking String Theater) to King John (Rude Mechs). Unrelenting in its energy, sparkling in its language, and perfectly precise in its execution, Everything Is Established is a dazzle from beginning to...
