Start Trekkin' Austin

Austin, TX

Space, the final frontier . . .

The intrepid cast members of The Hideout Theatre's Start Trekkin are boldly going where they've been a few times before with their wildly popular improvised parody of a certain classic 1960s sci-fi series.

A crew of Austin's finest improvisers take the stage in full Federation uniform and, based on audience suggestions, create a wholly original "episode" set in the Star Trek Universe. Expect melodramatic acting, aliens in bad wigs, paper mache rocks and transparent social allegories. But don't expect James T. Kirk or the USS Enterprise; this is a different ship and crew, but somewhere in the same galaxy.

Join them as they celebrate and send up one of the greatest television shows of all time. Laugh long and prosper.

Star Trek: The Next Improvisation

Minneapolis, MN

Star Trek: The Next Improvisation is improvised comedy in the style of that beloved 90's TV masterpiece - Star Trek: The Next Generation. Take an unscripted journey into the 24th century with the crew of the USS Intrigue, Starfleet's second finest galaxy class vessel. At each performance Captain Burt Fountain and his loyal crew explore new planets, discover strange new civilizations, and find new ways to narrowly avoid violating the Prime Directive.

Star Trek: The Next Improvisation was one of the flagship shows of HUGE Improv Theater's first season, and played to sold out houses for almost four months. The show features many of the Twin Cities' most accomplished improvisers, including members of Splendid Things, Five Man Job, Interplanetary Appeal, The Bearded Men and the Minneapples.
