Get Up is two veteran improvisers from Austin, Texas presenting narrative long form at its best. Expect multiple characters, quick edits, and sophisticated comedy as they make up a complete story on the spot inspired by randomly selected musical scores.
Edit Troupe Info
Get Up members Shana Merlin and Shannon McCormick have been working together in different improv troupes, such as The Heroes of Comedy, and performances such as No Shame Theatre since 2002.
In 2005, they decided to pare down and form a two-person improv troupe. In 2006 they added sound improviser Sara Farr to their ensemble to provide a live soundtrack and scoring to Shannon and Shana's improvised stories.
Get Up's latest format begins with the audience randomly selecting the theme music for the show and the performers use that as inspiration for an improvised comedic one act play.
Cast:Scott Adsit, John Lutz
Adsit and Lutz
Before Scott Adsit was a star on the NBC hit '30 Rock' and before he voiced several animated characters on Adult Swim's 'Robot Chicken,' Scott performed on the mainstage of Chicago's Second City between 1994 and 1998 and, alongside "Saturday Night Live"'s Rachel Dratch and Tina Fey, was one of the driving forces behind such groundbreaking revues as "Pinata Full of Bees" and "Paradigm Lost". An in depth look at his craft is available in the PBS documentary "Second to None". A 1995 sketch he performed with former SNL head writer Adam McKay, "Gump", was included as one of Second City's all-time best on the CD's which come with the book "Second City" by Sheldon Patinkin. Scott has proudly described the mission of comedy as "changing the world with our funny skits and songs".

After an illustrious career on the best improv stages of Chicago as well as the Second City Touring Company, John Lutz wrote for Saturday Night Live from 2003-2009, gaining a recurring and hilarious role as a naive audience member who interrupts the show's guest in the opening monologue. In 2006, he joined the inaugural cast of what would become the Emmy and Golden Globe winning NBC comedy '30 Rock.'
